Seeding empathy.

We believe in the power of visceral engagement, and that experiential learning is one of the best ways to make a lasting and meaningful impact on students. Our goal is to help you realize your vision for social change. We do not focus on any one cause except for sowing the seeds of global citizenship. Rather, we focus on a different theme each year.
In 2012-2013, we focused on urban migration and labour. The simulation is designed to give students an overarching glance at the forces that drive the largest movement of humankind: the migration of millions from farms, to cities. Next, the simulation explores its side-effects: the stifling slums, and the desperate sweatshops that germinate under the radar, invisible to the world.
Our story starts in Uttar Pradesh -- the most populous state in India. Here, students begin their life in teams as young farmers. Each time they face hardships such as discrimination and natural disaster, they have to choose their sacrifices wisely. They endeavour to balance their money and their demerit points, which represent a loss in health, education, and other factors contributing to breaking out of the poverty cycle. While trying to keep their heads above water, it dawns that an urban future is a better (and unavoidable) one.

Welcome to Kanpur, the industrial heartland of Uttar Pradesh. Here, our farmers will spend their days in Bhawani Textiles Complex. To earn a living, the students will cut, sew and tag tirelessly, confined to their production line...and only the most profitable workers will stay. The factory provides your only opportunity for income, or else you'll be caught unemployed in the slums. As competition grows fierce, the factories are forced to compromise. Conditions deteriorate, and walls crack. Is there any real hope? Watch the Migration Simulation below to find out more!
